Heavens to Betsy! Where do we start! It's almost as if Ali Sina's words (above) have come alive yet again, as the ummah freaks out (again) over remarks made about their would-be god Mohammad. Yes, it's true, question the workings of Muslim theology or the "will of Allah" and you will be told that you "just don't understand" or that "you'd have to read the Koran in Arabic". Insult Mo the Assumed Seal of the Prophets, and you get riots. Kind of makes me wonder who's more holy, but maybe that all just strikes me as odd. Then again, my judgment gets thrown a bit when I watch excellent Muslim Theater Productions, such as this most recent one, especially when they include whirlwind acts involving fire and death threats.
"Anyone who describes Islam as a religion as intolerant encourages violence," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam said.
Yes, she said it and Muslims dutifully left their mosques all over the Eastern Hemisphere to act on it. This is a common device in the world of Muslim Theater. Don't worry, if you missed the first act I'm sure film footage will soon follow. But this falls in line with "Mohammad, Believe it or Else!". What are we to take from this quote if not the simple truth that if anyone prominent (or even fairly unknown as was the case with the Jyllands Post artists) insults SPECIFICALLY Mohammad, and in doing so implies that Islam is "intolerant", that Muslims worldwide will jump out of any hiding place to prove on the spot that they are, in fact, VIOLENT.
"The pope has thrown gasoline onto the fire ... in a world where the risk of a clash between religions is high," said Haluk Koc, deputy head of the Republican People's Party.
AHA, so there is a fire. Good to know. Thanks for the heads up Mr. Koc, because we've been told that there is no fire whatsoever and that Islam is so incredibly peaceful that they probably have taken to "turning the other cheek". At any rate, things have been cleared up tremendously.
The thing that has been most cleared up is the fact that despite constant insults to all Christian denominations from Dar al Islam for centuries now, this latest spate of firey protest is just what happens when the Catholic Church chooses a Pope who won't do the hideous act that Pope John Paul II (above) submitted (no pun intended) himself to in the spirit of trying to tamp out that "fire" that may or may not officially exist.
